I’m going to be at GenCon Indy, but I’m not a guest as such – which means I’m not actually scheduled to run any games (actually, I do have one special event, but more on that in a future post). I hate to let a con go by without running a game, who do I run for? It’s not like there’s a shortage of people who’d like to play. I considered the auction idea, but for various reasons I’m not doing it. So instead, my plan is to do a variation of my traditional Eberron Trivia Contest. Starting in July, each week I’ll post a question here on the website. The winner for that week gets one of five seats. The sixth seat will be a wild card – I have a few ideas, but we’ll see what happens.
A few ground rules:
* The current plan is 4E D&D. I’ll make a final decision by the time I ask the first question.
* Pregenerated characters will be provided for the game. As I’ve said before, it’s just how I do one-shots.
* My preferred time to hold the game would be Sunday at noon – thus keeping people (myself included) from missing out on much of the con. However, I realize that some people leave early Sunday afternoon. Which is why I’m bringing it up now. If you’re interested in the game but couldn’t do Sunday afternoon – when would YOU want to play? Post suggestions below. When I as the first question, I’ll be setting a final time.
Since this is online, this won’t actually be a TRIVIA contest, because hey, everyone has access to books and web and all. As such, you’ll probably have to get creative with your answers. The good news is you won’t actually have to know every detail of Eberron to have a chance to win a seat.
So check back in July, and one way or another, I hope to see you at GenCon!
Wed Night would be great.
Sadly, as someone coming from the West Coast, it’s a no-go for me; I won’t be getting in until close to midnight.
Well I won’t be going to Gencon, but I’m looking forward to the Eberron trivia contest.
But how does this address the “getting you to GenCon” portion of auction plan?
Unfortunately, it doesn’t – hence the “Brainstorming ways to keep HDWT alive” segment of the show.
