So… What Happens Next?

I’m going to be stationary for the next few weeks. I’ll be taking a brief trip to California the first weekend in September for Pacificon (http://www.pacificongameexpo.com/), then my journey begins again when I leave for Australia and GenCon Oz (http://www.genconoz.com).

Between then and now, I have many plans for things I’d like to post on the site. Needless to say, I have many stories and pictures to share from the last three months. I also have a few gaming articles I’d like to post here. And when I have a moment to get CafePress sorted out, I have some shirts designed by my friend Lee Moyer… notably tour shirts for the last few legs of my journey.

However, at the moment, my top priority is completing The Fading Dream, the third novel in the Thorn of Breland series. Until I’m finished with that, I need to make a serious effort to resist the siren song of the internet. So you may not see much posted here for the next few weeks. But check back, because once my time is my own again, I have many plans.

Hey Keith, I know you are avoiding the internet right now, but if you read this, please know that I (and probably others) would love to hear about random thoughts you may have. If you need a break, my selfish suggestion is to blog a bit. Tell us about how your Europe trip went, different types of gamers you played with, anything at all! You are a great writer, so please don’t stop your novels, but please also let us have some tidbits!

This may even help me avoid being retarded on the net. So you can chalk it up to charity!

I would like to echo Superkp’s suggestion that finding the right way to maintain a regular net presence might actually help your paying productivity. It seems to work for Matt Forbeck. I’ve often thought that the quality of today’s voice-recognition software means that one should be able to dictate asides that would mount up really quite rapidly. The issue is training your software apparently.

Hope this helps. All the best. ;)

I’ve found that arriving home can be taxing too. I get used to being on the road, to things constantly changing. Then all of a sudden, things are in the same place they were yesterday. And then I spend a bunch of time in a comfy chair going “Uhhhhh, yeah.” It’s not very productive, but I think it’s pretty healthy.

  5. Hi Keith,

When you find yourself in Chicago, I’ve been working on developing the RPG Community here (and the board game community, and more) and would love to host you for a chat and, if you’re willing, have you run a game.
